NextGEN Gallery(...) is a very popular plugin for image galleries.
To use it you properly you have to understand how to structure your galleries and albums and the different shortcodes to include into each page to make it do what you want.

The shortcodes are documented in the FAQ section for the plugin

Many different examples are shown and documented at http://nextgen-gallery.com/

Sites where I have used the NextGen gallery plugin include:

Using NextGen gallery with other slideshow plugins

In order to use NextGen gallery in conjunction with other plugins that perform similar tasks (e.g. Slideshow Gallery Pro(...) you may need to do a bit of code hacking.

I’ve written to the authors telling them that both NextGen and slideshow-gallery-pro used the same shortcode for slideshows [ slideshow].   Slideshow-gallery-pro has already been updated to support a new shortcode [gpslideshow], but NextGen gallery hasn’t been.

So, unless you know the sequence that the plugins are loaded you might find the [ slideshow] shortcode has been hi-jacked by the ‘wrong’ plugin.

To overcome this problem you can use additional shortcodes provided in the oik plugin ( oik(...)).

  • Use [ ngslideshow] for a NextGen gallery slideshow
  • Use [ gpslides] for the Gallery pro version.
